The Division of Microsystems Engineering at the Department of Materials Science conducts research on the use of microsystems in a variety of scientific fields, from biology to space technology. Common to all research is the desire to investigate how the properties of systems change when they are made smaller, and how these properties can be used to create simpler, cheaper and above all more functional technology.
Work duties: Responsible for research and development of technologies for miniaturized soft and extensible microsystems with a special focus on systems that use low-temperature alloys and those that are liquid at room temperature. This research includes development and evaluation of manufacturing techniques, sensors and actuators for such systems. The tasks also include supervision of students in projects related to research issues. Participation in other teaching may also occur.
Qualification requirements: Doctoral degree in materials science or microsystem technology. We require solid knowledge and many years of experience in manufacturing technology, sensors and actuators in soft and extensible microsystems. Particularly meritorious are knowledge and experience in heterogeneous extensible microsystems that use low-temperature alloys or those that are liquid at room temperature.
We put great emphasis on your personal characteristics. We therefore require good oral and written proficiency in English. Documented ability to obtain research funding and experience of international collaboration is highly meritorious. You should be purposeful and structured and you can work effectively both individually and in groups.
Application: The application must contain a CV, list of publications, copies of diplomas and other relevant documents. We are happy to see that you provide information about reference persons or attach a letter of recommendation.
