Researcher in Medical Bioinformatics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with more than 250 employees and over 300 additional coworkers connected via the Uppsala University Hospital. The Department of Medical Sciences has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a number of different areas. The research carried out at the department is performed in close connection with the clinical activities at the Uppsala University Hospital, which includes both basic studies on the causes of a variety of illnesses and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. Duties: One part of this position will be about to build on already established results in our research groups to further accelerate in vitro analysis and optimization of drug combinations for anti-cancer treatment. The position will be focused on improving, developing, and applying methods for generation and analysis of video microscopy movies collected while monitoring cell cultures being exposed to different combinations of clinically used drugs as well as other chemical compounds. A second part of this position will include research on processing and interpreting whole body MRI images in collaboration with external researchers using different machine learning approaches.

Requirements: A PhD degree in medical bioinformatics (or similar). Expertise on large-scale label free live cell imaging for drug combination analyses. This position also requires expertise regarding modern methods for machine learning including deep learning of artificial neural networks. A key aspect will be personal characteristics, for example proven interest for the research topic and the medical intended medical applications.

Additional requirements: A master degree in electrical or computer engineering, or similar.
