Uppsala universitet, Institutionen för informationsteknologi

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in research as well as teaching at all levels. The department has 280 employees, including 120 faculty and 110 PhD students, and 30 research groups. More than 4000 students are enrolled annually. The post-doctoral positions are offered by the department’s Division of Computer Systems, which conducts world-leading research on a wide range of topics related to the engineering of future computers and computer systems. The division has around 55 employees, including 10 professors, 8 university lecturers, 8 researchers and post-docs, and 25 PhD students.

Duties/Project description: The Division of Computer Systems seeks to strengthen its core research activities through the recruitment of up to five promising postdocs. The division’s research includes modeling, design, and analysis of new computer architectures, new methods in computer communication, and new techniques in embedded systems. In all those areas, the division has produced groundbreaking theoretical and applied results.

This call is open to applicants across any of the research fields within the division. Each post-doc will be placed in one of the research groups in the division, but we are particularly interested in applicants who can span multiple groups through collaborative projects. Relevant research groups and projects are:

  • Algorithmic verification, in particular verification and testing of concurrent programs;
  • Communications research, in particular backscatter communication and battery-free communication;
  • Computer architecture, in particular microarchitecture, memory systems, security, and hardware/software co-design;
  • Embedded systems, in particular modelling, design, and analysis of systems that allow dynamic update;
  • Security, in particular of networked embedded IoT systems and applications, software security, and security for in-body sensor networks.

More information is available at the Division of Computer Systems webpage.

The positions include research and a limited amount (max 20%) of teaching.

Appointment period: The positions will be held for two years and can start as soon as possible.

Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
