The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is Sweden's largest and broadest institution of its kind with just over 200 employees, many of whom have an international background. Our research extends from the Earth's core to the atmosphere, from microscopic minerals and fossils to how rocks and oceans are formed, from the time of the Earth's birth until today. We map the evolution of the earth and life over several billion years and study the relationship between the atmosphere and the oceans with regard to climate change and sustainable development. The research Program of Mineralogy, Petrology and Tectonics (MPT) is looking for a lecturer with assignments in rock geology.

Duties: The position involves mainly teaching at the Bachelor and Master levels, within fields of petrology, geochronology, mineralogy, structural geology and ore geology. Teaching forms will comprise lectures, practicals, field courses and supervision. Administrative responsibilities, such as administration of courses and help with coordination and planning of master program, can be part of duties as well. Participation in research projects within the above listed fields will be at the extent of 20%.

Requirements: For this position, PhD in the Earth sciences is required. Applicant also must have completed teacher training of relevance to operations at the University, comprising ten weeks, or have acquired the equivalent knowledge. Particular emphasis will be placed on skills to teach in the areas specified above. The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and/or English.

Additional qualifications: The ability to teach in Swedish will be considered a merit.
