The Department of Earth Sciences of Uppsala University is Sweden's largest and broadest institution of its kind with about 200 employees. Our research extends from the earth's core to the atmosphere, on scales from sub-microscopic structures in minerals to the formation of mountains and oceans, from the formation of the Earth until today. We investigate the development of life and the Earth over billions of years, and study the connections between the atmosphere and oceans with regards to climate change and sustainable development.

The research programme LUVAL brings together research and education in hydrology, meteorology, environmental analysis and physical geography.

Work duties: As a course assistant you work with planning, administration, implementation and post-reporting of courses in collaboration with the course responsible teacher and other teachers involved in the courses. Together with the teachers you will prepare course material for seminars, exercises and field activities, as well distance learning materials, which may include recording/editing/broadcasting online lectures, virtual excursions and similar. Work may also include assisting with course administration and to prepare and compile material for the development of courses and together with the teacher and the director of studies develop the education.

Qualifications: Current experience in geoscientific university education. Good computer experience and good language skills in English in speech and writing.

Desirable/additional qualifications: Ongoing or recently completed studies in geosciences or related fields. Personal characteristics are important, such as good ability to listen and collaborate, and to meet and give room for people from different backgrounds and perspectives. You also need the ability to take the initiative and to be able to solve problems in a constructive way for the business, as well as being able to operate and complete independently tasks within given time frames, even during temporary work breaks.
