IRES, the Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (http://www.ires.uu.se/), provides an academic platform for integrated multi-disciplinary research on recent developments in Russia, and in the post-Soviet space.

Duties/Project description: The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct research within the tasks and deliverables of WP1 of JUSTNORTH, but there may be opportunity to contribute to other work packages as appropriate. The postdoc will contribute to the work of WP1, including critically evaluating major philosophies and theories of justice and ethics in order to develop a philosophically and theoretically grounded set of justice frameworks. The postdoc will be expected to coordinate their research efforts in alignment with the tasks and deliverables of WP1, work collaboratively with other researchers in the project, convene seminars, develop working papers and communication briefs as described in the WP1 description of work, to help to prepare an analytical handbook and to publish scientific articles related to the work of JUSTNORTH. In addition, the postdoc will be expected to work closely with Dr Corine Wood-Donnelly to conduct tasks related to the broader activities of the Arctic Justice agenda including assisting with the preparation of an edited volume, convening seminars, assisting with the preparation of grant applications and the coordination of workshops and conferences.

Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in a relevant field. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc..  Fluency in both spoken and written English is likewise required.

Additional qualifications: Applicants should be able to show an ability for both independent and collaborative work and to work in an interdisciplinary setting are required, as is an ability to write in a clear, concise manner accessible to non-disciplinary specialists.

Salary: Individual salary.  

Starting date: 06-01-2020.

Type of employment: Temporary position according to central collective agreement.
