Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 230 employees and has a turnover just over 220 million SEK. At the department's seven programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The department has education assignments in engineering programs and master's programs. More information is available on our website.

The researcher will be part of “Molecular Devices for Artificial Photosynthesis” group within the Physical chemistry program. The program which is highly recognized internationally is part of the Department of chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, within the chemistry section at Uppsala University. The group is situated in a modern building at the Ångström Laboratory. The research at the department spans from organic, inorganic and physical chemistry to biochemistry and biophysics. Strong cross-disciplinary collaborations are characteristic for the department.

Subject description: Solid state p-type dye sensitized solar cells was proposed for the first time by Dr. Tian’s group. Many fundamental and practical challenges need to be overcome. Development and study of this kind of solar cells is also very important for fabrication of tandem solar cells and also dye sensitized solar fuel devices.

Work duties: In this project, complete solar cells will be prepared and characterized using standard methods and advanced spectroscopies. A researcher position may include some lab teaching and supervision, at it’s most 20%.

Requirements:

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD within the field of Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent, with a physical chemistry component
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • The ability to work in a team is required
  • The knowledge and experience of device fabrication of dye sensitized solar cell
  • The knowledge of photochemistry and electrochemistry

Additional requirements: Previous knowledge and experience on device fabrication of p-type solid state dye sensitized solar cells and transient absorption spectroscopy is highly appreciated.

The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, certificates of degrees, published articles or relevant materials, if available. Also, contact information of at least two reference persons should be included.

Salary: Individual pay.

Starting date: 2020-07-01.

Type of employment: Temporary position, 12 months.
