The department and the two projects “The Continuation of Conflict-related Violence in Postwar Cities: Mapping violence at the street level”, and “Urban-rural dynamics of community-based conflict management” are now looking for 2 research assistants, for 12 months employment.
More information about the two projects:
1) “The Continuation of Conflict-related Violence in Postwar Cities: Mapping violence at the street level” (Project leader Emma Elfversson) started up in January 2020 with funding from the Swedish Research Council and will run through 2024.
The project will establish a comprehensive dataset on conflict-related violence in postwar cities where events are disaggregated at the street level. This novel data will be used to analyse where within postwar cities violence tends to cluster, and together with in-depth analysis of selected cases assess theoretical explanations for the variation in conflict-related violence within and across postwar cities. More information about the project can be found here: pcr.uu.se/research/research-themes/conflict-dynamics/the-continuation-of-violence-in-postwar-cities/
2) “Urban-rural dynamics of community-based conflict management” (Project Leader Kristine Höglund), started up in 2020 with funding from the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development (FORMAS).
The project analyses how rural and urban contexts impact on community policing as a strategy for conflict management and violence prevention, using both qualitative and quantitative methods and focusing on Kenya. More information about the project can be found here: pcr.uu.se/research/research-themes/peace-peacebuilding-and-reconciliation/urban-rural-dynamics-of-community-based-conflict-management/
