The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over ten divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 125 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for researchers, and opportunities for partnership with industry and various outreach activities.

Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application: Researcher in Electronic Structure Theory at the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Starting date: April 2020. Research area: Materials Theory.

The Division of Materials Theory is known to have a world-class research environment in solid state theory, including both numerical and analytical models. The research is focused on electronic structures, magnetism, topological phases of matter, correlated phenomena and green energy solutions.

The researcher will be part of a larger theoretical team focusing on research of magnetic materials, correlated electronic structures and new materials. This involves research on many body physics both using analytical and computational tools. The applicant is also expected to have expertise in programming and analytical tools connected to electronic structure theory.

The applicant is expected to have a PhD degree in Physics, with a good background in solid-state physics and theory in general. The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, certificates of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of the PhD thesis, or equivalent, published articles and other relevant materials, if available. Also, letter(s) of recommendation can be included.
