Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace  research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 80 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit http://www.pcr.uu.se.

For the department and for the EU-project "Rethink", we are now looking for a research assistant for a part time employment (60%), for 6 months. Start date 1 March 2020, or as otherwise agreed.


Duties:
The research assistant will participate in an EU funded project aimed at reducing societal polarization in the EU under the guidance of the lead author. The Research Assistant will participate in: the conduct of qualitative research, the writing of literature reviews and research reports, the organization of workshops and meetings, and the coordination of activities between partners in multiple EU countries involved in this project.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor degree within peace and conflict or area that the project leader finds equivalent.
  • The assistant should have a strong knowledge of qualitative methods, including the conduct of interviews and field research in challenging environments. Fluent in English and at least one additional European language (verbal and written).

 
Additional qualifications

  • A master degree within peace and conflict or area that the project leader finds equivalent. The assistant
  • A strong ability to conduct research in multiple European languages such as Italian, French, German and Spanish would be highly valued.
