Researcher in Invertebrate immunity - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Organismal Biology is part of the Center for Evolutionary Biology. The research at the department focuses on developmental biology, systematics, evolution and physiology of living organisms. The department houses research groups studying early vertebrate evolution, plant development and immune defense in evertebrates. This research position is located in Professor Irene Söderhäll’s team, Department of Comparative Physiology.

Duties: Research on extracellular matrix proteins and their importance for freshwater crayfish blood cell formation with special focus on the enzyme transglutaminase and adjoining molecular mechanisms.

Requirements: Doctoral degree with focus on molecular biological and biochemical studies of crustaceans, as well as postdoctoral studies in the subject area. Large emphasis is put on the applicant’s personal abilities, such as being independent, structured and with good collaboration and problem solving analyze ability. 

Additional qualifications: Experience of preparing stem cell cultures from crustaceans and of biochemical and molecular studies of the enzyme transglutaminase, as well as purification of proteins from crustaceans is a requirement. Experience in in situ hybridization methodology, is a merit.
