The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over ten divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 125 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for researchers, and opportunities for partnership with industry and various outreach activities.
Duties:
The research will be conducted within research collaborations on energy applications within the department. A large part of the research work will consist of studies of functional oxides, especially for solar cells within the framework of funded VR and STEM projects.
The research focuses on experimental studies of the electron structure of oxide materials and properties using advanced experimental methods, especially X-ray based spectroscopy. In addition to the combination of these technologies, research will also include thin film preparations using PLD. Correlating surface and bulk structure (electronic as well as geometric) to the functionality of high-efficiency solar cell material is an important goal.
Requirements:
Experience of work with synchrotron light and preparation and characterization of thin films. The ability to obtain and use beamtimes at synchrotron facilities as well as experience of international research collaboration.Experience of preparation and oxide material synthesis, such as growth of samples using PLD as well as experience of PV characterization. Good communication skills in English are also required.
The applicant must have a PhD degree in physics or related area.
