The position is affiliated to the Child and Baby Lab (www.babylab.se) at the department of psychology. The lab includes some 30 researchers and PhD-students that investigate children’s motor, cognitive, and socio emotional development. The Child and Baby Lab has a strong international focus and has been rated as a world-leading lab on numerous occasions (KOF-07 and KOF-11).

Duties: We are looking for a motivated postdoc with a cognitive science background to work in a project studying gaming and the application of games to study cognitive processes. The project uses a wide range of methods (e.g., eye-tracking, behavioral experiments, computational modeling) and takes a strong developmental perspective. The position involves, in collaboration with other project members, planning and completion of studies within the larger project and writing up the results for publication in scientific journals as well as for presentation on international conferences. Administration and teaching (max 20%) might also be included.

Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree in psychology or equal, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in psychology. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. The applicants should also have documented experience with experimental methods in cognitive science.

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience with own research within the broader field of cognitive science.
  • Experience with one or more of the methods used in the project (e.g., EEG, eye-tracking, behavioral experiments, computational modeling, machine learning).
  • Excellent skills in spoken and written English.
  • Programing knowledge and experience of using R, MATLAB or Python for statistical analysis, computational modeling and/or data collection.
  • Experience creating and programming computer games using C/C++, C#.
  • Experience working with Unity game engine.
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience of project management.
