Project description: The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is coordinating the Europe-wide H2020 Research-Innovation-Action Smart Exploration (www.smartexploration.eu) project related to new exploration technologies of mineral resources. While the main focus is on geophysical instruments and methods covering a wide range from seismic to electromagnetic methods, there are also aspects related to geological and geochemical data and target generations. The department is the largest and broadest as such in Sweden and includes programs within Geophysics, Geology, Paleontology, Hydrology, Meteorology and Natural resources. It is located next to the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) and this allows a great level of interactions with the researchers from SGU.
Given the wide range of partners involved (e.g., universities, SMEs and mining companies) and exploration sites available, we require a manager with mineral exploration background (preferably geophysical) to support us in the coordination of the project.
Duties:
Requirements: We are seeking a motivated candidate with strong interest in research and innovation, experienced in mineral exploration or geophysical instrumentation technologies who has an academic magister/master- or engineering degree, or equivalent, in geophysics, geology, physics, earth sciences or a related similar field (preferably with a MSc or PhD degree). Excellent oral and written proficiency in English is required. Excellent proficiency with software suitable for professional reporting or illustrations, communications, progress tracking, and presentations are needed.
Additional qualifications: Well-organized multi-tasking, flexible, proactive, responsible to promote project activities through innovative solutions and suggestions. Open-minded and a team player with high social skills. Experience in project management is a great merit.
Application: In your application include your CV, certified copies of diplomas and certificates, and a personal letter describing yourself and your relevant experience (maximum 2 pages). The application should also contain a summary of your professional background and at least three referees. In your cover letter specifically explain how much experience you have in boosting new technologies towards the market and in particular for mineral exploration.
Uppsala University strives to be an inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities and attracts qualified candidates who can contribute to the University’s excellence and diversity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and from people of all backgrounds.
