Teaching assistant / Amanuens, Department of Peace and Conflict Research - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace  research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 80 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. For the department and for the project ViEWS, we are now looking for a teaching assistant/amanuens, for a part time employment for 5 months.

Duties/Project description:
Data collection and preparation. Writing up narratives on ongoing conflicts.
Programming tasks to improve presentation and data analysis in ViEWS. Statistical analysis.

Requirements: For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level.

Additional qualifications:
Active student at the master level, with excellent knowledge of quantitative methods, including machine-learning methods, familiarity with evaluation of prediction systems, good working knowledge of R and Python, as well as excellent writing skills.

Salary: Individual salary.
 
Starting date: 20 January 2020, or as otherwise agreed.

Type of employment: Temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12.

Scope of employment: 20 % for 5 months (until 12 June 2020).
