The Department of Informatics and Media has a broad research profile focusing on current research topics including information systems, interaction design and media and communication. The Department of Informatics and Media has teaching assignments in degree programmes and individual courses within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Department has a turnover of approximately SEK 60 million and about 85 employees.

Duties: The position entails teaching and research in information systems. The position is temporary and includes teaching, examination and administration, as well as a possible opportunity to conduct research. Teaching includes planning and delivery of courses, including course responsibility, course administration, course development and supervision of doctoral students. The focus of the position is the digitalisation of society and development of information systems. The senior lecturer is expected to be responsible for courses in the areas mentioned above at the first and second-cycle levels, but teaching outside of these areas may be included. Duties include monitoring developments in your subject area and social developments otherwise that are material to the work of the University.

Qualifications: Eligibility employment as a senior lecturer requires the candidate to have a PhD or equivalent research expertise, demonstrated teaching expertise and the personal characteristics required to perform the duties of the post well.

Documented ability to teach in English is a required qualification. Ability to teach in Swedish will be considered an additional qualification.

Assessment criteria: Equal weight will be assigned to research expertise and teaching expertise in the selection among eligible applicants.

Equally great care will be devoted to examination of teaching expertise and research expertise. Teaching expertise must be thoroughly documented so that quality can also be assessed. Wide-ranging experience of teaching in information systems or the equivalent is significant to the position and will be assigned substantial weight. Particular weight will be assigned to documented teaching and research experience in the specified subject area as described under “Duties”.

In assessing teaching expertise, teaching quality must be the prime consideration. The scope of teaching experience, in terms of both breadth and depth, must also be afforded consideration. Furthermore, consideration must be given to the capacity to plan, initiate, lead, and develop teaching and instruction, as well as the ability to connect research to teaching. The ability to interact concerning issues of teaching and learning in higher education with actors inside and outside the University is also included in teaching expertise.

In assessing research expertise research quality must be the prime consideration. The scope of research, primarily in regard to depth and breadth, must also be afforded consideration. Furthermore, consideration must be given to the capacity to plan, initiate, lead and develop research and education in the third cycle, the ability to acquire funding for research in competition, as well as the demonstrated capacity to interact with others both within academia and in the wider community.

When the University appoints new teachers those applicants must be selected who, following a qualitative holistic assessment of their competence and expertise, are judged to have the best potential to carry out and develop the relevant duties and to help advance operations.

In connection with this recruitment, the recruitment committee may use interviews and test lectures and may check references. Applicants must therefore provide a list of references who can shed light on their professional expertise and personal characteristics relevant to the position, such as collaborative skills, leadership skills and working methods.

Other preferred qualifications: Administrative expertise is significant to the position and will be assigned substantial weight.

Administrative expertise is demonstrated through, for example, the capacity to plan, organise and prioritise work in a suitable and effective manner, as well as the ability to specify and adhere to time frames. This form of expertise includes overall work planning; ability to manage resources in a way that reflects operational priorities; and ability to work in a structured manner and on the basis of an awareness of goals and quality.

Personal circumstances (such as parental leave) that may be in the applicant’s favour in the evaluation of qualifications should be stated in the list of qualifications and experience.
