A position as research engineer in biogeochemistry is available at the Department of Ecology and Genetics, Limnology.

The limnology program conducts research and teaching on the ecology and biogeochemistry of inland waters, from microscopic to global scale.
Project description: The work includes support and contributions to research and research studies in biogeochemistry and microbial ecology. The research engineer will initially work on a Wallenberg Scholar project on the ”Persistence and Degradation of Organic Matter”, but will also provide general support to research on aquatic microbial ecology and biogeochemistry. The duties will include laboratory work, data management, field work, and support to researchers, including MSc and PhD students, and postdocs, as well as coordination of activities in the laboratory.
Qualifications required: We are looking for a qualified person with a PhD in a relevant field with respect to biogeochemistry and microbial ecology. Expert knowledge is required in one or several of the following topics: Chemical analysis with spectroscopic (e.g., mass spectrometry, NMR, or fluorometry) or chromatographic (e.g., HPLC) methods, and methods of relevance for molecular microbial ecology (e.g., extraction of nucleic acids, PCR, analysis of microbial activity). Candidates must be able to express themselves very well in spoken as well as written English, and be able to organize and analyze big data sets. In the evaluation of candidates, we will emphasize personal qualities such as independence and teamwork skills.
Qualifications desired: Qualifications and experience in methods for both analytical chemistry and molecular biology.
Position: The position is a permanent and full time, probationary period may be applied.
Salary: Individual salary.
