The research performed at the department of Neuroscience covers the normal function of the nervous system, its development as well as how function of the nervous system is altered following injury and in disease, and how to improve treatment of patients with these disorders. In addition, studies are carried out on genetic and acquired factors that can give rise to or contribute to nervous system disorders and underlie personality disorders (e.g. drug abuse, criminality).

Duties: The project focuses on working with a biologically relevant in vitro neuromuscular junction on an innovative microelectrode array chip as a model system for studying neuromuscular physiology and disorders.

Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a researcher, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate, in neuroscience, preferably in neurophysiology.

Essential skills are:

  • Practical experience with primary cell culture, particularly muscle cells and neurons, as well as microscopy.
  • An ability to work effectively, independently and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Strong English skills with a documented track record of scientific publications in international, peer reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in programming using Matlab, python and strong familiarity with Linux.
  • Strong skills in experimental design and interpretation, and scientific writing.
  • Documented courses in experimental animal work (Felasa C or similar) as well as practical skills in electrophysiology are also highly valued.

Additional qualifications: Completed postdoctoral fellowship in neurophysiology.

Salary: Individual salary.

Starting date: 01-12-2019 or as otherwise agreed.
