Job description: The successful applicant to the coordinator position will apply expertise in canine and human genetics as well as comparative genomics to help the Lindblad-Toh research-group run smoothly. Working within the Genomics unit of the Department for Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, the applicant will help coordinate the group as well as its interaction with outside collaborators (SLU and world-wide) and stakeholders (including pet owners). This will include looking for funding opportunities, writing grants, write project reports, edit papers, track progress on ongoing projects, help students thrive and generally work closely with Professor Lindblad-Toh to ensure the success of the group. Some teaching may be included.

Additional work may include: Oversee improvement and frequent updates to the group’s webpage. Coordination with research groups at SLU on how to render the canine biobank more effective. Planning group meetings and guest invites. Planning for Principal investigators (PI) in conjunction with recruitments to solve needs of various kinds - immigration matters, housing, various interactions with authorities. Work on procurements and offers.

Required qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a PhD in the research area and be able to demonstrate expertise in the fields of genome-wide association studies and various types of next generation sequencing analysis. You should have documented experience of administrative work, good organizational and computer skills, structured work habits and an interest in continuously developing your own work.

We are looking for someone who can work independently as well as within the team to help coordinating projects and people within the group. Good interpersonal skills are required as the coordinator will help mentor and manage people. Excellent spoken and written English and Swedish is required. Excellent skills in problem solving, organisatorial matters - sees opportunities rather than problems.

Additional requirements: Experience with population scale and/or comparative genetic analyses are a bonus. Experience in project management is desirable. Knowledge of pet dogs is a plus.
