Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences has 140 employees and a number of visiting researchers and fellow students. The department has twelve research groups with a common administration and we are doing research and teaching in pharmaceutical cell biology / biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical and drug addiction, pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacometry, clinical pharmacy, bioinformatics, imaging mass spectrometry, molecular neuropharmacology, immunology, biological drugs / biotechnology as well as toxicology and drug safety. Placement: The PhD student position is associated with the research group Pharmacometrics.

Duties: The work will involve design and analysis of exposure-response data of drug against tuberculosis. Data will be received through an European research consortium where drugs will be developed within the consortium consisting of European drug companies and institutions. Data will be of pre-clinical nature as well as clinical patient data. Teaching and other administrative work might be included.

Requirements: The applicant should have a suitable undergraduate exam from the area of pharmaceutical science of 4 years full time studies including course work in pharmacokinetics or equivalent. The applicant should have social skills, team-player, highly motivated and interested in research within pharmacometrics. The applicant should have high communication skills in writing and oral presentation, in Swedish and English. The applicant should have experience of pharmacometric research within tuberculosis drug development.

The applicant should be highly motivated and have a genuine interest in research in the field of pharmacometrics.

Applicants will be ranked by the supervisor in consultation with the Department Research Education group. The Committee for Research Education at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine-Pharmacy will admit the PhD student. Salaries will follow local guidelines at Uppsala University.

The holders of PhD student position primarily devote their time to own research-level education. Other duties at the Department involving teaching and administrative tasks maybe included in the framework of the position (max 20%). The PhD program normally lasts for 4 years research, plus maximally one year of teaching.
