Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 200 employees and has a turnover of 200 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The department has education assignments in engineering and civil engineering programs and master's programs. More information is available on our website.

The PhD position is placed in Dr. Tian’s group in Physical Chemistry. More information about the group can be found on group webpage.

Subject description/research project: The research project will focus on development and study of photocathodes for solar energy conversion and storage, including both solar cells and solar fuel devices.  The goal of this project is to develope efficient and stable solar cells and solar fuel devices through molecular and material development on hybrid photocathodes. Various spectroscopic techniques such as spectroelectrochemistry, transient absorption spectroscope and operando IR will be employed to investigate the photocathodes. Outcomes from the project are expected to contribute new knowledge and methods to the research community of solar energy conversion and storage.
