Uppsala University, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology

The Kasson laboratory, within the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Uppsala University, is seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher in computational biophysics of membranes. The group is an international and interdisciplinary team of researchers who come from different backgrounds to study viral entry mechanisms using both computational and experimental approaches. Please read more about us at http://kassonlab.org .

Duties
This position to join an ongoing project within the Kasson lab to probe influenza viral entry mechanisms using molecular dynamics simulations, large-scale data analysis and HPC and cloud computing. This is a research-focused position on influenza infection: other responsibilities, including mentorship of younger researchers, any teaching and administration, etc. will be no more than 15% of total time.

Requirements
A PhD is required in physical chemistry or a similar area that the employer judges to be equivalent. Key requirements are a scientific background in biophysical chemistry and molecular simulation of lipid membranes, strong abilities to work in teams, and fluent spoken and written English. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate high research productivity (judged by high quality peer-reviewed publications versus time) in their current and any prior positions. One requirement is expertise in lipid membrane simulations, as demonstrated by publications within the last three years. Your CV and/or cover letter should also note your individual contribution to each published paper.

Application
Your application must contain a copy of your doctoral certificate, CV and a letter describing your previous experience.
References from current research supervisors are given great importance in the evaluation.

The applications will be assessed by written applications and, as a second stage, interviews where we evaluate applicant skills based on our requirements and your previous productivity.
