The Department of Government at Uppsala University has an open position for a researcher within the theme ‘environmental policy and disaster risk reduction’. The terms of the employment include 80% research and 20% teaching.

Tasks: The majority of the position (80%) involves research and research-related tasks within the theme ‘environmental policy and disaster risk reduction’. The researcher also will be affiliated with the Centre of Natural Hazard and Disaster Science (CNDS) at Uppsala University. The research focuses partly on society's ability to achieve collaboration to mitigate the consequences of natural hazards in Sweden and partly on extreme weather events as the driving force for policy-making and change from an international perspective. The employment includes data collection, coding, analysis, reporting of research results, as well as the writing of academic texts. The researcher will work in an interdisciplinary environment.

Eligibility requirements: Doctoral degree in Political Science, or other relevant subject related to the employment. Documented experience of research within areas relevant to the position, such as environmental policy and politics, crisis management, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation, is a requirement.

Documented proficiency and skills in the English language, both oral and written, is a requirement.

Assessment criteria: When selecting among eligible applicants, special emphasis will be placed on scientific skills. Documented experience of interdisciplinary research collaboration and good knowledge of quantitative methods — specifically statistical network analysis — is particularly advantageous.
