Uppsala University, Department of Surgical Sciences

The Department of Surgical Sciences (IKV) is a part of the Medical Faculty at Uppsala University. The department has approximately 130 employees, more than 170 registred PhD students and a turnover of approximately 152 millions. The department is responsible for undergraduate courses, part of the medical, nursing, logopedic and biomedical program. Furthermore, IKV is responsible for several programs in the nursing profession as well as separate courses and supplementary courses. IKV has a strong connection to the clinical work at the Akademiska sjukhuset. We are now looking for a PhD student for our project in PET/CT of adrenal tumours.

Duties/project description
The project includes analyses och quantification of PET/CT examinations with 11C-hydroxy-ephedrin of patients with suspected or diagnosed pheochromocytoma, and paraganglioma to assess the capacity of diagnosing and excluding pheochromocytoma, and paraganglioma, to diagnose recurrent disease, metastatic pattern in relation to the genetical profile. Another part of the project comprises development of more sensitive and specific methods to diagnose and stage neuroblastoma in children by adding PET/CT with 11C-hydroxy-ephedrin and 68Ga-DOTATOC to 123I-MIBG-SPECT/CT.

Qualifications:
Examination from medical school and experience from radiological and nuclear medicine, especially PET/CT.
