Project Description: The doctoral position is within the Uppsala Child and Baby Lab (www.babylab.se) at the Department of Psychology (www.psyk.uu.se). The research team consists of 30 researchers and graduate students investigating motor skills, cognitive and social development during infancy and preschool years. The lab has a strong international focus and has repeatedly been assessed as world leading (KOF -07 and KOF 11).
The PhD position is funded by a grant from the European Research Council. The project's overall objective is to investigate social cognitive abilities in infants using eye tracking (www.smarteye.se) and motion capture (www.qualisys.com).
To qualify for a doctoral position in Psychology at Uppsala University, the applicant must have a masters degree either including or in addition a minimum of 90 Swedish study credits in psychology. Applicants who have obtained qualifications equivalent or comparable to the criteria described above abroad are also eligible to apply. Additional qualifications: Research experience with infants and knowledge about the analysis of time series data from eye tracking and/or motion capture is an advantage. Given the research group's international focus, writing and communication skills in English are essential.
The PhD program comprises four years of full-time study. Other work in the departmental such as teaching and administrative work may optionally be included within the scope of the employment (maximum 20%). Ability to be admitted to the licentiate degree (two years of study) is also available. The rules governing this are found in Högskoleförordningen 5 kap 1-7§.

Funding: The position is available contingent on available financing. The current position is based on a combination of grants and department resources. The first year is funded by educational grants and subsequent years by employment as a doctoral student. The salary is determined according to local guidelines at Uppsala University (plus a supplement for licensed psychologists).
