Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 80 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit http://www.pcr.uu.se.

For the department and the project “Encouraging State Respect for Human Rights: A Series of Randomized Experiments”, we now seek to hire a researcher for a temporary part time position.

The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council and examines state repression and citizen responses.

Work tasks
Together with the project manager (Kristine Eck), the researcher should conduct independent research related to the project theme. Within the framework of the employment, teaching and administration can occur, but not more than 20% of the employment.

Requirements:
A PhD degree in Peace and Conflict Studies or Polictical science. Documented experience working with advanced quantitative methods, including the statistical program R and designing and conducting survey experiments. Documented research merits related to the project topic, especially state repression and resistance. Good ability to work cooperatively. Advanced proficiency in written English.

Additional qualifications:
Peer-reviewed publications related to the project theme.
