The Department of Earth Sciences is one of the most complete such academic departments in Europe. Our research focuses on subjects that range from the Earth’s core to the atmosphere, on scales from submicroscopic structures in minerals to the formation of mountains and oceans. We have teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. The position will be placed at Campus Gotland, Visby, within the research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (NRHU), Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University. Natural resources and sustainable development is a key component of the department’s research, education and outreach. At Campus Gotland, NRHU research focus is on recreational fisheries, aquaculture, coastal management and ecosystem services:www.geo.uu.se/research/natural-resources-sustainable-development/.
NRHU is also responsible for the establishment of a regional knowledge centre, Blue Centre Gotland, in collaboration with the county board, region Gotland and Uppsala University. The research program NRHU is responsible for courses within the Bachelor program in Environmental Science and Master program in Sustainable Destination Development, Visby, and the Master program in Sustainable Development, Uppsala.
Duties:
Assist in evaluation and development of courses and educational programs on bachelor level (Environmental Science) and master level (Sustainable Development; Sustainable Destination Development).
Requirements:
Bachelor degree, preferably in Environmental Science, Biology or other field seen as qualified for the position. The assistant should have an interdisciplinary academic background. We are looking for someone who has previously worked or has had an internship at a university or in another research environment. Good English language skills is a requirement, as the working language will primarily be English. Special weight will be attached to personal suitability such as good cooperation ability and ability to work independently.
Additional qualifications:
Experience of scientific work, preferably of the research and teaching conducted within the research program Natural Resources and Sustainable Development.
