The Department of Chemistry - Ångström laboratory conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 230 employees and has a turnover just over 220 million SEK. Across the department's seven programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The department has education assignments in engineering and civil engineering programs and master's programs.

Subject description: As part of the large scale research project BATTERY 2030+ we are now looking for a project leader who will run the project office that will be established to handle the European strategic research questions about the future of batteries.

Are you looking for the possibility to work within an area that has high research and application development? As project leader, placed at the Deparment of Chemisty Ångström, Uppsala, Sweden, you will work together with researchers, a communicator, and research secretaries in a dynamic and creative atmosphere to create a large scale European roadmap for the future of batteries.

Work duties: You will be working closely together with the coordinator of BATTERY 2030+ to coordinate the parties in Europe when it comes to research inputs, meetings and wording of research strategies. The project leader will also be an active part in the strategic meetings which will occur within the project together with the EU commisson.

Requirements: The applicant needs to have a doctorate degree in chemistry, physics, IT, material science or in another relevant area. The applicant should also have documented experience in initiating, coordinating, leading and carring out projects of a similar character. Furthermore, you are required to have experience in working independently, which for example means that you can move freely between strategic and operative work. Excellent language skills in both oral and written English is a neccessity.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and to succeed in this role you have to be able to work independently and in a structured manner. Moreover, the person needs to take initiative, be flexible, innovative and be able to work proactively. The project includes regular contact with different stakeholders, which means that you need to have good communication skills as well as a linguistic and analytical capability for this employment. 

Other merits: in the role as a project leader it is considered an advantage to have worked in a similar role within the public sector. Good communication skills in German and French as well as an experience in working within European collaborations is an advantage.
