The Department of Women's and Children's Health conducts research, postgraduate education and training in gynecology, obstetrics, perinatalmedicin, paediatrics, international health, women's medicine and clinical psychology in healthcare. The activity is integrated with the Women's clinic and Children's hospital at the University Hospital and National Centre for women's safety. Research is conducted within eleven research groups and we have the graduate program in medical science.

International Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) is a leading research and education centre at Uppsala University that works for improved global health with special emphasis on women’s and children’s health and nutrition. The education and research programmes address the health challenges in low- and middle-income countries and in humanitarian crises. By developing and evaluating interventions and new strategies for tackling priority health problems, IMCH makes important contributions towards equitable global health.

We are looking for a research assistant to work with the development of a knowledge center on Sexual, Reproductive Health and Migration, through multidisciplinary collaboration between social science, medicine and statistics.

There is a growing amount of knowledge on SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) and migration, but evidence-based recommendations are lacking. Additionally, there are some myths and misconceptions around SRHR and migration. The knowledge center aims to improve the accessibility to evidence for healthcare providers to improve the health services provided migrant patients.

Duties:

  • Developing an online platform for the knowledge center as an educational/ informational resource for helath care providers dealing with migrant patients
  • Synthesizing knowledge in different topics of sexual reproductive health and rights and migration
  • Create evidence-based recommendation and identify best practices in SRHR and migration
  • Presenting the information in an accessible way, producing infographics and videos
  • Organizing seminars and presentations
  • Promoting the knowledge center

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in relevant subject.
  • Previous experience and knowledge in SRHR and migration
  • Experience from field work and project management skills
  • Proficiency in English and Swedish
  • Good knowledge of qualitative research and methods
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a group as well as independently
  • Good IT skills 

Additional qualifications: Master degree i anthropolgy or equivalent.
