The position is within the research group Clinical Psychology in Healthcare, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The research group is hosting the strategic, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary research program U-CARE (http://www.u-care.uu.se). In U-CARE we specialize in the development, piloting, and evaluation of e-Mental Health interventions for people with somatic disease, and their significant others. U-CARE has several international collaborations and our broad competence within research methodology has been acknowledged in the latest evaluation of research conducted at Uppsala University.

Duties/Project Description: The person we are looking for will work on two projects. One project is focused on testing and evaluating a webbased self-help program for parents of children treated for cancer. The second project is focused on the development, testing, and evaluation of a guided self-help intervention for depression in people with dementia living in the community.

The successful applicant will support the principal investigators to coordinate the work within the two projects, including supervision of project coordinators and research assistants, development of study protocols, managing ethical approval processes, monitoring recruitment and retention, liaising with project members and external collaborators, writing for publication, and contribute to the process of securing research funds.

Required qualifications:

To be eligible for the position, you need to have completed a PhD in Behavioural Sciences, Health Care Sciences, Psychology or a related field. The candidate must have a track record in the design and delivery of clinically relevant research, for example, psychological treatment development and evaluation. The candidate must also have specialist knowledge and experience in feasibility and pilot studies, controlled trials, and qualitative research methods. Very good ability to write and speak in the English language is also essential.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability such as flexibility, ability to prioritize, good teamwork and quality awareness. You will also have experience of supervision of others and very strong organizational and administrative skills.

Meriting skills:

  • Experience of working with mental health populations
  • Experience of participatory action research and patient and public involvement in research.
  • A publication track record
