Research assistant, The Department of Peace and Conflict Research - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace  research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. UCDP The Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) has recorded ongoing violent conflicts since the 1970s. The data provided is one of the most accurate and well-used data-sources on global armed conflicts and its definition of armed conflict is becoming a standard in how conflicts are systematically defined and studied.

UCDP is now looking for a research assistant for a full time position.

Tasks:
The tasks will mainly be to expand the UCDP actor's database, which will involve gathering information about actors in organized violence and producing texts about these actors on the UCDP website. The work will also include encoding violence from news articles and other sources.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a master's degree in peace and conflict knowledge. Since the work is largely about producing high quality texts in English, documented very good English is also required, as well as experience in text editing. A good knowledge of UCDP and its definitions is also a requirement. In addition, the role requires that the applicant is good at working together and has an educational approach.

Desirable / meriting
Previous experience from similar assistant work.
