The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is one of the most international, broad and distinguished biomolecular departments in Europe, comprising six research programs covering subjects such as bioinformatics, microbiology, and biophysics.

The Kasson Group in Molecular Biophysics Program, within the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology seeks a postdoctoral researcher studying influenza virus entry mechanisms. We are an international and interdisciplinary team of committed researchers who come from different backgrounds to study virus delivery mechanisms using biophysical analysis. You will join an international, interdisciplinary team studying viral entry with backgrounds in physics, chemistry, computer science, and virology. The group provides an exciting, dynamic environment for science, and good communication skills and positive interactions with teammates are critical for success.

Duties
Responsibilities are full-time research and mentorship of junior researchers in the laboratory as agreed upon, with all research time on the research project and mentorship and other development responsibilities taking < 20% time. Will also include international travel to collaborating scientific sites and meetings as needed. This position will involve experiments on viral entry using fluorescence microscopy and quantitative biophysical analysis.</p><p><b>Requirements</b><b> <br /></b>PhD and scientific background in quantitative virology, quantitative cell biology and / or biophysical imaging, strong publication list compared to years of experience, successful demonstration of scientific knowledge, and ability to work with diverse teammates. Key skills for success will be viral and cell culture, biochemical isolation of viral components, advanced fluorescence imaging and quantitative analysis of results. Excellent communication skills in written and oral English are prerequisites.
