Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct Peace research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit http://www.pcr.uu.se.

To the department and the project "Who keeps the peace and why does it matter? Mission composition and peacekeeping effectiveness" we are now looking for an amanuens for a time-limited employment of 5 months, at 20 %.

Duties:

  •     qualitative data collection and coding
  •     analysis of aggregated information
  •     preparation of literature reviews
  •     editing and formatting of book and article manuscript
  •     prepare draft of scientific texts

Qualifications:

  •     active student at bachelor or advanced level at Uppsala University
  •     good knowledge of peacekeeping activities and state military organizations and related theories
  •     experience of qualitative data collection
  •     ability to independently analyze data and to develop scientific texts on a scientific basis
  •     excellent knowledge of English
  •     great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as good collaborative ability, as well as accuracy

Desirable/merit:

  •     bachelor's degree in peace and conflict research, or related disciplines
  •     previous practical experience in working in peacekeeping activities
  •     languages other than English, especially the languages spoken in peacekeeping missions, such as French, Portuguese and Spanish

Employment as an amanuens is regulated in Högskoleförordningen (HF 5 kap § 10). Only those who are admitted to education at the first level or advanced level may be hired as an amanuens.
