The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University (www.igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, autoimmune and genetic diseases. A fundamental idea at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby closer interactions between medical research and health care. Research is presently conducted in the following areas: medical and clinical genetics, clinical immunology, pathology, neuro-oncology, vascular biology, radiation science and molecular tools. Department activities are also integrated with the units for Oncology, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Pathology, and Hospital Physics at Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala. The department has teaching assignments in several education programmes, including Master Programmes, at the Faculty of Medicine, and in a number of educations at the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology. The department has a yearly turnover of around SEK 400 million, out of which more than half is made up of external funding. The staff amounts to approximately 340 employees, out of which 100 are PhD-students, and there are in total more than 600 affiliated people.

Work description:

Our group is focusing on tissue based cancer research. Lung cancer tissue is analysed by advanced molecular techniques (RNA sequencing, multiplex immunofluoresence, next generation sequencing and Nanostring). The research also includes immunohistochemical classifications of the cancer microenvironment in respect to immune cell infiltration and other important tumor and stromal features. This results in large multidimensional data sets that are evaluated bioinformatically in connection with patient parameters (survival, response to therapy, etc.). Particular areas of interest are immune therapeutic mechanism for clinical diagnostics.
The post doc should be responsible for the infrastructure and will perform the analysis in cooperation with different facilities (Clinical Pathology, Molecular Pathology, SciLife). The post doc will organize the data and will establish new molecular analysis. Additional cell biological experiments may complement patient based results. The post doc has the opportunity to perform independent projects by him- or herself, including publications and may supervise PhD students. The research group is small but highly productive which requires collaborative and social competencies.

Qualifications:
The requirements for the post doc position are that you completed your PhD or a foreign degree that is regarded as comparable to a doctoral thesis. The degree must have been completed in the last three years. If there are special reasons, the degree may have been completed earlier. The ability to work both independently but also in a team is very important. Merits:
Bioinformatic, histopathologic or cell experimental experience are of advantage.
