Type of position: Fixed-term substitute appointment from 01/09/2018 to 28/02/2019, with the possibility of extension.
Duties: Teaching and examination of a range of undergraduate and MA courses in English Linguistics, Grammar, and Academic Writing, as well as supervision of BA and MA theses. Teaching duties comprise course coordination, administration and development. Administrative duties, as well as other teaching in English and within the Unit for Professional English may be included. Independent research is included in the position.
Eligibility: According to the Higher Education Ordinance, applicants are eligible for employment as Lecturer if they hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent academic competence relevant to the duties of the position. The applicant will have completed training in tertiary-level teaching (10 weeks) or acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways, and have demonstrated competence in teaching. The ability to teach in Swedish and English is a requirement.
Assessment criteria: In ranking of eligible applicants, equal weight will be accorded to research and teaching competence. Research qualifications must be in the field of English Linguistics. The ability to initiate and conduct original research that may contribute to the ongoing research at the department will be given weight. Assessment of teaching competence at undergraduate and master’s levels, especially within the field of English Linguistics, will be given particular weight and should include documented excellence in teaching, a proven ability to design, deliver, assess and revise courses; as well as experience in setting and marking of students’ work. Experience of thesis supervision and examination will also be considered. Attention will be given to the quality of teaching; teaching skills must be documented in a manner that allows their quality to be assessed. Good interpersonal skills and a documented ability to cooperate with colleagues is important.
In appointing a person to this academic post, priority will be given to the applicant who, after a holistic assessment of competence and skills, is judged, alongside documented qualifications, to possess the greatest potential for performing and further developing the relevant duties and contribute to the positive development of the working environment.
