Postdoctoral position in single cell proteomics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University (www.igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, autoimmune and genetic diseases. A fundamental idea at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby closer interactions between medical research and health care. Research is presently conducted in the following areas: medical and clinical genetics, clinical immunology, pathology, neuro-oncology, vascular biology, radiation science and molecular tools. Department activities are also integrated with the units for Oncology, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Pathology, and Hospital Physics at Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala. The department has teaching assignments in several education programmes, including Master Programmes, at the Faculty of Medicine, and in a number of educations at the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology. The department has a yearly turnover of around SEK 400 million, out of which more than half is made up of external funding. The staff amounts to approximately 340 employees, out of which 100 are PhD-students, and there are in total more than 600 affiliated people.

The postdoctoral fellow will be placed in the newly established Gallant research group situated in the Molecular Tools research unit at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology. The group is focused on developing and applying tools for single cell analysis and functional genetic approaches.

Work description:
The post-doctoral position is funded by a Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) consortium grant focused on systems microscopy to study cancer cell migration. For the project, the post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for developing and applying oligonucleotide-antibody reagents for multiplex single cell protein or combined RNA and protein single cell analysis.
Your specific responsibilities include: antibody-oligonucleotide conjugation, cell culture, designing, setting up and running proximity ligation or extension assays, and single cell RNA sequencing including Illumina sequencing library preparation.

Qualifications:
The candidate has a PhD degree in molecular biology, biomedical science, biotechnology or a similar discipline. Previous molecular biology experience with high-throughput DNA, RNA and antibody-based protein analysis is required.
Your work is both diligent and thorough. You enjoy learning new methods and developing new protocols and techniques.
The position will require both significant independent work and collaboration with others within the lab, the Molecular Tools unit and the SSF-supported consortium. You are highly engaged in your work and have excellent communication skills. Computer and English proficiency are essential. Interpersonal skills will be highly valued.
Your doctoral degree should have been earned no more than 3 years prior to the deadline of the application. If you received your PhD earlier but special circumstances exist, including for example, prolonged periods of illness, parental leave, military service, union duties, you are also eligible to apply.

Merits:
Experience with protein-conjugation chemistry, next-generation sequencing, DNA primer design, high- throughput methods or single cell genomics is a strong advantage.
