Research assistant - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace  research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit http://www.pcr.uu.se.

For the department and the project "Causes of Peace", we are now looking for a Research assistant for a temporary employment between 1 September and 31 December 2018.

Tasks
Research and administrative tasks in the "Causes of Peace" project: collection of data on violence and causes of peace in sub-Saharan Africa; compilation and initial analysis of collected information; preparatory work for field work; editing and formatting book and article manuscript.

Qualifications

• Bachellor or Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Research, or related disciplines.
• Good knowledge of Africa, and theories of peace and conflict.
• Experience in data collection.
• Good knowledge of English.
• Good cooperation.
• Good ability to work independently.

Desirable / meriting
Knowledge about Zambia, Malawi and Botswana as well as experience in field work. Weight will be added to personal suitability.
