The Department of Medical Cell Biology (MCB) at Uppsala University has a strong and international research environment with over 100 scientists, including around 25 PhD students, 20 postdocs and 30 researchers and professors.

MCB has a strong commitment to diabetes research and is part of the national EXODIAB network (http://www.exodiab.se/). There is excellent access to core facilities for imaging and other relevant technologies through the nearby national SciLifeLab.

Work description: 

You are expected to conduct research into the mechanisms of fusion pore behavior during exocytosis, its regulation and consequences for hormone secretion. This involves experimental work using high-resolution imaging and electrophysiology and related techniques, and active participation in the day to day operation and mission of the lab, including supervision of research students and participation in the writing of grant application and publications. Limited teaching and administrative duties are also part of the position up to a maximum of 20 %. 

Qualifications: 

PhD in cell biology, neuroscience, biophysics or other fields relevant for the position, and a solid publication record of related peer-reviewed research. Extensive experience with high resolution imaging or patch clamp electrophysiology is a requirement. Additional merits are prior experience in the fields of membrane fusion and fission or image analysis. To qualify for postdoc employment, the PhD must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application date (periods of for example sick- or parental leave are deductible).
