Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was founded in 1971 with the purpose of conducting research and offering education in the field of peace and conflict studies. The institution is today a young, dynamic and international workplace with about 70 employees and approximately 300-400 students from all over the world. More about the institution's activities can be found at http://www.pcr.uu.se.

For the projects "The Institutional Roots of Electoral Violence" (project leader Kristine Höglund) and “Electoral Violence: A threat to Democratic Transition and Consolidation” (project leader Hanne Fjelde), we are now looking for a research assistant.

Tasks
Research and administrative tasks in both of the above projects: data collection and coding; compilation, visualization, and analysis of collected information; editing and formatting article manuscript; prepare drafts on scientific texts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Research, or related disciplines.
  • Good knowledge of political violence, democracy and political institutions, as well as theories of peace and conflict research.
  • Experience in data collection and data encoding, as well as the use of Stata, R, and latex.
  • Ability to independently analyze data, and to draft scientific texts on a scientific basis.
  • Good knowledge in English.
  • Good working ability, and ability to work independently.

Other/merit:
Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Research.
Previous experience of working as a research assistant.
