Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research
The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme.
Work tasksThe research assistant will work in the project "Peaceful Solution of Jihadist Conflicts?" during the period 22 July 2018, even though June 30, 2019. The project as a whole is a total of 5 years and began January 1, 2016. Project leader is Isak Svensson.
The main task of research assistant in this project is to code (and coordinate others coding of) parties' positions over time in armed jihadist conflicts and to help with empirical analysis of conflict resolution outcomes (mediation, peace agreement, political solutions, etc.). The research assistant assists the responsible project manager, coordinates the various parts of the project and works with project management.
Qualifications
Masters Degree in Peace and Conflict Research (or equivalent) and excellent proficiency in speech and writing in English.
Desirably / meritorious
It is a pretext to have experience as a research assistant, Excel and STATA skills and administrative efficiency.
Weight will also be added to personal suitability.

Salary: Individually negotiated salary.
