PhD position in Solid State Theory - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application: PhD position in Solid State Theory at the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Starting date: September 1, 2018. Research area: Materials Theory. The PhD position is open for four years.

The Division of Materials theory is known to have a world-class research environment in solid state theory, including both numerical and analytical models. The research is focused on electronic structures, magnetism, topological phases of matter and correlated phenomena.

The PhD student will study spin-dependent phenomena in magnetic materials with a special focus on spintronics applications. The student is expected to participate in developing of microscopic theory of spin torques in both non-collinear and collinear magnets and to search for potential candidates for practical calculations using first-principles calculations.

The applicant is expected to have a Master's degree in Physics, or equivalent, with a good background in solid-state physics and theory in general.

The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, certificates of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of the Master thesis, or equivalent, published articles and other relevant materials, if available. Also, letter(s) of recommendation can be included.
