The Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES) is a multi-disciplinary research unit that transcends boundaries between law, humanities and social sciences. It provides an innovative research environment striving to achieve excellence. At the moment, IRES is home to close to 35 researchers.

Duties: As a postdoc, you primarily conduct your own research in the subject area. The position may include some teaching and administration corresponding to up to 20% of the position.

Qualifications: To qualify for the post doc-position a doctoral degree in humanities or social science or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctorate. Doctoral degrees must be completed no more than three years before the end of the application period. In special circumstances the PhD can have been completed earlier, including leave of absence due to sickness, parental leave etc.

The applicant must be fluent in English. In the selection of applicants, particular importance will be attached to scientific skill and previous research within the subject field as well as how well the proposed research fits into the Institute's other research profile. In addition, the applicant should be highly motivated, able to work in groups and in other social contexts and have a strong ability for critical thinking and structured work. Great importance will be attached to these skills.

Additional qualifications: As the research takes place in a multidisciplinary forum, good collaborative ability and interest in multidisciplinary research are important characteristics. Knowledge of Russian language.

Salary: Individually negotiated salary.

Starting date: 01-09-2018 or as otherwise agreed.

Type of position: Temporary full time position (100%) of two years.

The application should contain a CV, a short research proposal (maximum 2 page), a list of publications, a copy of the doctoral certificate, a copy of the PhD thesis (or a draft thereof), and two references (names and contact details). Personal circumstances that may be of relevance in the evaluation, for example periods of parental leave, should be mentioned in the CV.
