Uppsala University, Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences

The research team CHAP - Child Health and Parenting, is a multidisciplinary group with a primary focus on evaluations within public health. Research is carried out in projects and often in collaboration with municipalities, county councils and NGOs.

The mental health of refugee children and youth has been recognized as a significant public health issue in Sweden. CHAP conducts research within this area with a focus of interventions to decrease mental health problems in this target group. We have received funding from the Kavli Foundation to conduct a randomized controlled trial of the Teaching Recovery Techniques – a group intervention for post-traumatic stress in refugee children and youth. We are now looking for a researcher to work in the project.

Job assignment: The researcher's mission is to be responsible for ethics application, trial registration, data collection, data analysis and report writing, both to the financier and to our project partners, as well as for scientific publication. In addition, presenting the work in various contexts are included as well as supervising research assistants in the project.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in psychology, behavioral science or medical science, focusing on migration and / or mental health. Good knowledge in statistical analysis is a requirement. You should be able to manage SPSS or equivalent, and be able to perform basic data analysis independently and determine when specialist knowledge in statistics is needed. You should also have knowledge about the analytical methods that can be used in intervention studies and for data collected over time. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals is a requirement. Very good knowledge of English - both oral and written - is a requirement as we work internationally and publish in English. Good knowledge of Swedish is also desirable to communicate with our national project partners and to produce reports in Swedish. Nevertheless, international candidates not proficient in Swedish will be considered. You should be ambitious, serious and have the habit of delivering what you commit to you. Good social skills are important for building relationships with our project partners as well as working with users, which will be an important part of the project. We want you to work independently, but enjoy joining a team. Language skills in Farsi, Dari or Arabic are relevant to this assignment and will be taken into account in particular. Previous experience of project management is desirable, as well as postdoctoral experience abroad.
