Uppsala University is an international research university focused on the development of science and education. Our most important assets are all the individuals who with their curiosity and their dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting work places. Uppsala University has 40,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6,5 billion.

At the division of solid state physics we do both basic and applied research. In general we investigate physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials and compounds whether it will be used as thin films for spintronic applications, magnetic nanoparticle based bioassays, coatings for smart windows, gas sensors, photocatalytic coatings or to create new magnetic materials for environmentally friendly energy technology. We also do energy system studies to investigate the impact different energy sources have on the whole energy system in the built environment.

The project focuses on magnetic materials for energy applications, especially permanent magnetic materials without content of rare earth metals and magnetocaloric materials with potential for cooling and heat pump applications. We offer a varied and exciting work, with well-established collaboration with the departments of Chemistry Ångström and Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University as well as with nationally and internationally recognized research groups.

Qualifications: To qualify for employment on a post-doctoral position at Uppsala University, the applicant must hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree.
