Associate Senior Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry with a focus on antibacterial drug discovery

Description of the field
Our globalized world is currently facing many challenges and one of them is antibiotic-resistant bacteria that pose a serious threat to human health. Innovative molecules that can serve as starting points for the development of new antibiotics need to be identified. The challenges are numerous and include identification of new drug targets as well as identifying new compounds ("hits" and "leads") for these targets that can be further optimized and evaluated as drug candidates. These molecular starting points should preferably show new mechanisms of action as well as penetrate the bacterial cell wall.
