Researcher, Department of Peace and Conflict Research - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace  research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme.

Work tasks 
We are looking for a researcher who can work part-time during the period 1 April to 31 December 2018 in project “Demagogues or peaceful democrats”. The task consists of conducting research together with other project participants on former military leaders in Nigeria who have put themselves up in democratic elections. More specifically, this means; collecting and analyzing empirical material about Nigeria, as well as writing a paper with the aim that this will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. Other tasks include presenting the research results in Swedish and English at various seminars or conferences.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD. within peace and conflict research or political science, hold proven experience in conducting research on Nigeria, as well as experience in field-work in Nigeria. Very good knowledge of English and Swedish is also a requirement. Applicants must also be able to work independently and work well with other people.

Desirable / meriting
Documented experience of having researched elections in Nigeria.
