Researcher in Assyriology - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Research and teaching at the Department of linguistics and philology covers approx. twenty different languages and linguistic subjects as well as computational linguistics. These include many of the important languages and cultures in the Middle East, to which can be added Hindi, Swahili, Chinese, Ancient Greek and Latin. General Linguistics and Computational Linguistics are also part of the department.

Duties: research and research-related activities in Assyriology, with placement within the research project “Memories for Life: Materiality and Memory of Ancient Near Eastern Inscribed Private Objects”. Development of and work with a GIS database and studies of delimited material categories within the framework of the project. Administrative duties within the project are included.

Requirements: Completed doctoral degree or an equivalent degree with specialisation toward Assyriology or Near Eastern Archaeology. Documented merits for work with cuneiform languages and Near Eastern Archaeology and experience within the field of Digital Humanities.

Additional qualifications: Good familiarity with relational database applications such as FileMaker Pro, geographic information systems such as ArcGIS, and programs for graphic design and layout such as Adobe Creative Suite.
