Statistician/Data Manager - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University, has an opening for one position as a Statistician/Data Manager for the research groups of Clinical Physiology and Respiratory Medicine, Sleep and Allergy. The research groups are located at Uppsala University Hospital.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work The work will be supervised by Professor Andrei Malinovschi, Professor Christer Janson and Professor Eva Lindberg. The research area is covering topics as pulmonary function testing, asthma, COPD and sleep medicine. We have extensive international collaborations and are parts of different international consortia. We use mainly STATA for statistical analyses.

The primary work responsibility will be to merge different databases (within the field of pulmonary function testing, asthma, COPD and sleep medicine) and to perform statistical analyses in these various research projects. Creating custom-made databases for coworkers in different projects will also be a part of the job. A smaller part of the job will also be to advise PhD students and postdoctoral students on statistical matters. Depending on your qualifications and interest, another task might be to work closely with researchers in the process of writing scientific publications.

Qualifications The ideal candidate is highly motivated with thorough education on master or PhD level within statistics.

University diploma on MSc level or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. statistics, medicine, biology, bioinformatics) Proficiency in written and oral English is a requirement.

• You have good pedagogical skills and can explain statistical methods for persons that have less advances statistical knowledge
• You have good communicative skills both within the research group and towards external collaborators

Other Previous and documented experience within statistics / biostatistics / bioinformatics / epidemiology.

Previous experience of working with medical registries.

Previous and documented experience of working with scientifical publications within the medical field. PhD education in relevant field.
