Postdoctoral in the design of biological drugs - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences has 140 employees and a number of visiting researchers and fellow students. The department has twelve research groups with a common administration and we are doing research and teaching in pharmaceutical cell biology / biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical and drug addiction, pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacometry, clinical pharmacy, bioinformatics, imaging mass spectrometry, molecular neuropharmacology, immunology, biological drugs / biotechnology as well as toxicology and drug safety. Work duties

The task is to develop and analyze transporters for protein-based drugs. The goal of the project is to manage to get protein-based drugs into the brain and into nerve cells. If we manage we would facilitate treatment and diagnostics of targets that presently are difficult for biological drugs to reach. Our main target is to start with proteins involved in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. 

Qualifications required

To be eligibility for a position as a Post-doc the applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent. The applicants PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application date. The PhD can be older than three years if there are special circumstances. Such special circumstances ac be periods of sick leave, parental leave etc., which are deducted from the three-year period.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoc are the ones with a PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or similar field.

Experience with working with cells is a requirement. We are looking for a motivated person, with good communication and collaboration skills that can work independently and that contributes to the good atmosphere in the group.

Merits:

It is desirable that the candidate have experience with working with both primary cultures and cell cultures. A FELASA certificate and experience from working with mice would be beneficial and especially experience from working with administration of biological drugs and analysis of their function in mice. Experience from protein expression in mammalian cells, protein purification and different biochemical analyses of proteins would be valuable. Knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease would also be useful.
