Uppsala University, Department of Psychology

Uppsala university invites applications for a 2-year post-doc position in affective neuroscience at the Department of Psychology (www.psyk.uu.se). The position is financed by research grants. The research involves brain imaging assessments of patients with anxiety disorders including studies of pharmacologic treatment effects on neurotransmitter systems and neural activity. Administration and teaching (max 20%) might also be included.

To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate. The doctor´s degree must be completed no less than three years before the application deadline. Candidates who have completed their degree earlier than this should receive equal priority if special circumstances exist. Because the work will involve data collection with positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), knowledge and experience of these two neuroimaging techniques, as well as related statistical analytic methods like Statistical Parametric Mapping, is desirable. The research involves brain imaging assessments of patients with anxiety disorders including studies of pharmacologic treatment effects on neurotransmitter systems and neural activity. Therefore, the successful candidate should ideally have training in medicine, clinical psychology or neuroscience. Past experience of clinical trials is a merit. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a consistent academic record, including publications in international journals. Because most of the research is conducted within various research groups,  good social skills are valuable and personal interviews of suitable candidates may be conducted.

Uppsala University strives to be an inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities and attracts qualified candidates who can contribute to the University’s excellence and diversity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and from people of all backgrounds.
